Overview

Solotte was founded durring the early 12th century in spring of the year 1131, by Mri Spain. The establishment of the new community went well, though many minor issues had to be solved as time went on. This was enough to delay construction and push back the formal opening ceramony, leading to some embarisment for Mri Spain.

Solotte was built using the conventions of Sylvin durring the early 12th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Solotte is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature waddle and daub construction with good timber frames and a stone foundation protected by thatched or shingled rooves. Most buildings with second floors are built in such a way as to overhang into the streets on the upper floors for more space, as building size seems to be the primary indicator of wealth within the community. Most buildings are not decorated with any integral features, but instead use ivy, flowers, and other natural elements in planters of on trellices to breathe life into the structure they grow upon.

Solotte is buildings folow an organic layout of spacious packed earth streets whihch gives the town a shape simmilar to a tree, if one views its streets from above. The town is the proud owner of a thick set of fortified walls fashioned from querried stone blocks. While not up to snuff for a fort or castle wall, the town's walls are naturaly much larger than those of forts or castles. Therefore, the construction such a wall is most expencive. Solotte's buget focused wall would serve its community well in battle in spite of looking unimpressive compared to castles and fortresses. Astonishigly, the top tier civilian fortifications are in pristine condishion, as if they had just been finished before you laied eyes upon them.

A look around Solotte gives you an uneasy feeling. Everything is just a little too worn down, a little too dirty, or both. No one makes eye contact. Kids play quietly, but happily. Occasionally a passerby glances at you out of the corner of their eye, staring jsut long enough for it to be uncomfortable. People seem to be allowed to do as they please with little harmoney to anything. It feels less like a town, and more like a spot people just happened to place their homes.

Cultural Notes

Solotte's mayor's house was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is characterized by dynamic designs and complex architectural plan forms; intended to heighten feelings of motion and sensuality, and frequently based on the oval. It made extensive and extreme use of: Grandeur, Contrast, Curves and twists, Rich surface treatments, Gilded statuary, Bright colors, Vividly painted ceilings, Fragmented or deliberately incomplete elements, Large-scale frescoes, Dramatic central projections on an external facade, the use of plaster, stucco, or marble finishing, Illusory effects such as trompe l’oeil, and pear-shaped domes. While beloved by the nobility, the common folk tended to despise the style due to the massive consumption of resources required for even a small building constructed in this style.

Due to the actions of local Kami, spring is long in Solotte.

The Amoeba Swarm near Solotte are known to be a mutant strain of the creature.

Solotte's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in winter and involves long periods of drunkenness to channel Necromancy energies of tier 3 via chanting.

Points of Interest

Some important ruler or leading figure resides in the community. This may be the seat of a regional lord, or it could be the traditional residence of a high priest, great magus, merchant house, or other wielder of influence. The community itself may or may not be under their direct control, but the wishes of the august figure must be acknowledged by the locals.

History

In time immemorial, reportedly some time during the early 2nd century, Solotte was attacked by savage tribes living nearby Solotte. The details of the conflict are hazy at best due to many conflicting accounts. What is known is Solotte lost 218 people, 223 livestock, and 30 buildings. The conflict ended after roughly 153, when members of Solotte's militia enacted an operation to deliver supplies to a specific group of civilians. The operation was complicated by a significant percentage of the militia choose to go abandon the operation and return home. The conflict ended with needing to break through the enemy's lines, which ended in a stalemate for Solotte's forces. The war is remembered in legend by Solotte's bards, historians, and legend keepers.
